Although
social compliance applies basically to any industry
and labor area, there are elements intrinsically
different to particular conditions of the working
environment, like special health and safety concerns
and social issues attached to the nature of the
occupation. These elements are particularly noticeable
in agricultural environments where workers typically
belong to the lowest paid groups and have additional
problems like migratory cycles, daily contact with
toxic products, low levels of education and often
no access to community services often available
on urban environment.
ALGI recognize all these unique
needs and has an specialized program to address
social, health and safety concerns of agricultural
environments. Our team of experts includes specialists
on the safe handling of pesticides, the use of low
toxicity products, Integral Pest Management, biological
controls and anthropological and social matters
related to rural workers. These elements have been
skillfully incorporated into our traditional Social
Compliance Program, to serve large and small farms,
plantations or agricultural/industrial complexes.
Our experice includes work with banana plantations,
coffee growers, flowers under greenhouse conditions
and a number of tropical crops. |
